BATTLE: Nu Shooz – I Can’t Wait -VS- Eddie Money – Take Me Home Tonight

HOLY 1986!

BATTLE: Camp Lo – Luchini (aka This Is It) -VS- Marcelo D2 – Desabafo

BATTLE: Camp Lo – Luchini (aka This Is It) -VS- Marcelo D2 – Desabafo

A USA vs Brazil showdown would normally be a soccer match, but not today! Camp Lo samples Dynasty and Marcelo D2 samples Claudia so heavily they should really be called remixes, but either way they’re fun songs.

BATTLE: Spice Girls – 2 Become 1 -VS- Hanson – MMMBop

BATTLE: Spice Girls – 2 Become 1 -VS- Hanson – MMMBop

Don’t be embarrassed. It’s been 15 years since these songs were hits and if we can’t like them now, when can we? Both groups were the butt of plenty of jokes, but they were popular for a reason. I still think MMMBop is one of the best examples of a Pop song in existence (today’s […]

BATTLE: Cam’ron – Hey Ma -VS- Fabolous – Into You (feat. Tamia)

BATTLE: Cam’ron – Hey Ma -VS- Fabolous – Into You (feat. Tamia)

Don’t need to say much here – the similarities abound. Personally, I prefer the Tamia original, but adding Fabolous makes this a great match up. Into You has an Ashanti version out there and Hey Ma samples the Commodores. Both rappers can thank the original artists for the song’s popularity.

BATTLE: Paul McCartney – Wonderful Christmastime -VS- Wham! – Last Christmas

BATTLE: Paul McCartney – Wonderful Christmastime -VS- Wham! – Last Christmas

Battle for a Synthy Christmas and damn, these guys are taking it seriously! Paul and George couldn’t be much different but their synth driven Christmas classics have inspired endless holiday spins and countless remixes and remakes.

BATTLE: Kevin Lyttle – Turn Me On -VS- Brick and Lace – Love is Wicked

BATTLE: Kevin Lyttle – Turn Me On -VS- Brick and Lace – Love is Wicked

I considered Wayne Wonder – No Letting Go instead of Kevin Lyttle to have a Diwali Riddim battle, but I think this is an overall better match up. With winter approaching – any Jamaican beat should do.

BATTLE: Blackstreet and Mya – Take Me There -VS- Janet Jackson – Doesn’t Really Matter

BATTLE: Blackstreet and Mya – Take Me There -VS- Janet Jackson – Doesn’t Really Matter

7 (4+1+2badboys) on 1 doesn’t sound like a fair fight but man what a match up. Both vying for most wholesome high school dance song of my youth, today’s battle features two made for movie singles who’s pop appeal can’t be denied.

BATTLE: Chiddy Bang – Mind Your Manners -VS- Alex Winston – Sister Wife

BATTLE: Chiddy Bang – Mind Your Manners -VS- Alex Winston – Sister Wife

Really, this should be Icona Pop vs Alex Winston, but the Chiddy Bang Bros really hiphop/popped the sample up and gave us a good Battle.  Both songs from 2011, I doubt you’ll like just one.
